Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
Support students in reaching their full intellectual, physical, emotional, and psychological potential. Plan, develop, and implement an engaging music curriculum for elementary students that fosters creativity, skill development, and a lifelong appreciation for music.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Knowledge of:
music curriculum in elementary schools.
Skilled in:
lesson plan development, implementation of learning activities, behavior management, assessment, and teaching to individual student skill levels.
Ability to:
communicate orally and in writing and build relationships with students, parents, and staff. Ability to communicate with Spanish speaking students and parents preferred. Ability to integrate technology into the music classroom.
Experience:
Experience preferred but not required.
Education:
Completion of a higher education Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Music Education.
Certification Required:
A valid teaching license issued by the Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission with proper endorsements for Music in grades K-5.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Conduct assigned classes in designated locations and at scheduled times while providing effective instruction and support for student learning. Develop and implement a program of study that supports the interests, needs, and abilities of students while aligning instruction with district and state curriculum standards. Create and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and supports the developmental needs, maturity levels, and interests of all students. Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the supervisor.
Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, resources, and technologies that align with student needs and effectively support learning within the available district resources and facilities. Establish and maintain effective communication with students and families regarding academic achievement, behavioral development, and overall student progress to support student success. Collaborate effectively with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to promote student success and support school-wide goals. Participate in staff meetings, professional development activities, and other required school functions while actively pursuing opportunities to enhance professional knowledge, skills, and instructional effectiveness. Support the implementation of school and district policies, procedures, and regulations while maintaining accurate student records and monitoring academic progress. Maintain a safe and positive learning environment by protecting student well-being and ensuring the proper use and care of equipment, materials, and school facilities. Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Language Skills:
Ability to read English and comprehend complex technical language. Ability to write memoranda, correspondence, lessons plans, reports, and student achievement summaries in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-to-one and small group situations.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with a high degree of accuracy.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed, but basic, written or oral instructions in English. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisor(s), staff, students, parents and community.

Works in a school environment. Able to use a telephone, operate a computer, and use other office equipment. Able to drive to other program sites and meetings.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and work year in accordance with negotiated agreement between licensed teachers and the district.
CLASSIFICATION
Full time, probationary position, Antonia Crater Elementary School.
CALENDAR/BENEFITS
8 hours per day; 190 days starting August 24, 2026 plus 2 additional days prior for new hire orientation.
Salary range based on prior experience, $52,339 - $107,622, per the Licensed CBA.
