Mid-August 2026 About British International School of Chicago, South Loop The British International School of Chicago, South Loop (BISC-SL) is seeking instrumental teachers with flexible part-time schedules (based on student capacity) in your specific instrument(s) expertise, to join its dynamic staff. BISC-SL is a highly successful school and has established a reputation for excellence in the Chicago market. The contemporary, learning-driven school is located in the South Loop area of Chicago, serving both American and international families. Job Summary We are looking to appoint a Violin teacher to join a team of outstanding instrumental staff who teach a wide range of musical instruments as part of our in-school 9th Street Arts Studio. They are responsible for teaching students from ages 3-18 on an individual basis, helping them to master the basics of the instrument as well as being able to develop their skills at a higher level. Successful candidates will also work with students to prepare for recitals, music performance exams, and other opportunities. Hours will be dependent on student uptake

Core Duties and Responsibilities As an instructor in the school's 9th Street Arts Studio, you will be responsible for teaching your instrument to students from ages 3-18 (beginner to intermediate/advanced). You should be an outstanding performer and able to work with students from any ability or age range. You should be equally confident teaching in person and virtually, and able to communicate effectively with the Arts Director and students' families in order to support our students successfully. Many of our students sit for the ABRSM exams or other musical assessments so knowledge of these is an advantage. Required Education, Certification, and Experience
- Hold a Music and/or Education degree.
- Be an enthusiast specialist in the given instrument(s).
- Deliver both individual and group lessons if required.
- Support the music department with general administrative responsibilities relating to lesson organization and billing.
- Prepare students for recitals and contribute to the school's concert program where necessary.
- Be able to teach students from ages 3-18, including beginners.
- To be able to teach virtually if needed.
- Knowledge of the ABRSM Music exams and a willingness to prepare students for these exams where necessary.
- The ability to teach electric bass, ukulele, and/or voice as an additional instrument would be an advantage, though not required.
