Funkytown Music Academy, near TCU, is searching for a fun, people-loving, talented instructor on DRUMS. Multi-instrumentalists encouraged! Our current instructor will have reduced availability starting in June, and we expect to have 4-8 students ready to go, and will work to get additional students as your schedule allows. Weekday afternoon/evening availability on at least 2 days is required.
Requirements:
  • High degree of professionalism, reliability, ability to work with students of all ages as well as interact well with parents of children
  • Pass background check, complete training, work within policies and boundaries of Funkytown Music Academy and University United Methodist Church to ensure wellbeing and safety of all students, especially children
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, and commitment to swiftly reply to instructor and client emails, texts, and calls. If you're the kind of person who ignores texts and emails routinely, you won't succeed here.
  • 2+ year teaching required
  • Music proficiency desired across music styles
  • Have your own instruments and gear available for lessons
  • Create engaging lesson plans, document and track growth of students through clear written/typed communication with students and parents
  • Contribute to growth of Funkytown and students through recitals, shows, and general teamwork between instructors Preference is given to candidates who are:
  • Available year-round (ie summer or holiday music camps)
  • Multi-instrumentalists preferred
  • College educated or pursuing college degree Bonus points:
  • Experience with after school programs, especially non-profit. Funkytown Music Academy is exploring ways to give back to our city and engage kids who might not otherwise be able to take music lessons
  • Worship music and worship team experience.
FMA is part of a church, and thus, we partner in serving the community, training for worship teams, etc.
