School of Liberal Arts and Education General Summary The Odessa College Choral Music Instructor will supervise and instruct choral ensemble courses, including both performing ensembles and select applied voice lessons, while fostering vocal development, musicality, and ensemble collaboration. Specific Position Duties Teach applied lessons to music students Teach A Cappella Choir and Vocal Ensemble Develop and oversee choral events, including (but not limited to) choir clinics, recruitment events, and festivals Teach Music Appreciation courses for OCTECHS and adult student populations Maintain up-to-date knowledge in the teaching field Demonstrate willingness and ability to teach various courses, times, locations, and delivery methods, as needed and as reasonably requested by the college Utilize appropriately challenging coursework to help students realize their full potential as learners Provide students with written expectations (e.g., syllabi, policies, assignment instructions, graded evaluations, etc.) Administer assessments appropriate to course content, including a comprehensive final exam that measures overall mastery of course objectives Affirm the worth and dignity of all persons and support the right of all students to learn through inclusive instructional practices Maintain an appropriate learning and assessment environment (in-person, online, or distance) that encourages the free exchange of ideas while upholding academic honesty and objectivity Prepare adequately for classes and arrive promptly to all scheduled instructional activities, including lectures, labs, and rehearsals Deliver course material in a clear and effective manner Address student concerns (e.g., comments, questions, and feedback) both in class and through office hours, timely electronic communication, and other appropriate methods Teach assigned courses within the curriculum Teach web, web-enhanced, and ITV classes using a variety of instructional technologies, as requested Teach College Now (dual credit) courses at locations throughout the West Texas area Assist with recruitment, advising, and retention initiatives Participate in departmental and campus-wide committees Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution with at least 18 graduate hours in Choral Conducting Proficiency as a performer Demonstrated computer literacy Proven ability to teach students across a wide range of ages and diverse cultural and social backgrounds, including high school students enrolled in dual credit and early college high school programs Excellent communication and presentation skills Strong work ethic Documented commitment to teaching excellence
