Location:
Charlotte Central School Charlotte Central School (CCS) is seeking a part-time (0.8 FTE) General Music & Chorus Teacher to join our school team starting in the 2026-27 school year. The position may be structured as four full days per week or five partial days. The primary responsibility of this Music Educator will be to teach General Music to all K-4 classes and 5-8 Chorus classes. For candidates with experience in instrumental music, there may also be opportunities to work with select groups of students. We are looking for a dynamic and friendly music educator who is passionate about working with the developmental stages of children. This position plays a critical role in fostering a positive, inclusive, and equitable learning community where all students feel a sense of belonging and joy in their musical growth. Primary Responsibilities Providing engaging, developmentally appropriate music instruction and fostering music literacy based on the National Core Arts Standards. Establishing a positive and inclusive classroom environment using trauma-informed practices, culturally responsive pedagogy, and anti-bias/anti-racist practices. Utilizing proactive classroom management and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to promote social and emotional growth. Collaborating actively within a Professional Learning Community (PLC) setting and celebrating student and colleague successes. Participating in the school's Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework and sharing the responsibility to ensure all children learn and grow. Designing differentiated instruction using Universal Design for Learning (UDL), proficiency-based learning, and data-responsive instruction. Effectively integrating technology to enhance classroom instruction and student learning. Actively and clearly communicating with families and community members to build positive professional relationships. Demonstrating the adaptability, flexibility, and initiative necessary to thrive in a dynamic public school setting. The Ideal Candidate Will Possess Current Vermont Professional Educator's License in endorsement areas to support Music Education, or eligibility to obtain such licensure from the VT Agency of Education. Strong understanding of child development and a passion for working with elementary and middle-level learners. Experience with or willingness to be trained in Orff and Feierabend methodologies. Familiarity with social-emotional and restorative frameworks (e.g., Responsive Classroom, Restorative Practices, Second Step, Social Thinking, or Zones of Regulation). Strong organizational and instructional skills with a focus on proficiency and play-based learning progressions.
