Job Description
Hazen Union is seeking a creative, energetic, and collaborative music educator interested in joining an exciting and highly active music program. Candidates should be eager to think outside the box about music education. Responsibilities include directing and managing the choral program for middle and high school, as well as middle school general music and high school music electives. The candidate would help lead Hazens participation in state and regional music festivals and provide students with opportunities to participate in extracurricular choral activities such as select chorus.
The successful candidates will possess initiative, passion for music and for teaching middle and high school students, and a willingness to cooperate in creating opportunities for students to participate in instrumental, choral, and general music. Candidates should be active musicians who are experienced in teaching and performing music from a wide variety of styles, genres, and cultures. Candidates must demonstrate their ability to manage large groups and be proficient with music technology.
Hazen Union School is a public school with 300 students in grades 7-12. Hazen Union has a diverse membership, with approximately 70% of students receiving free or reduced lunch. Hazen Union offers challenging academics and enriching co-curricular programs.
The geographic location of the Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union (OSSU) is often referred to as the Gateway to the Northeast Kingdom. OSSU serves about 1,100 students PK-12 across six towns in four counties, totaling approximately 6,900 residents.
