Job Description

Description In order to create a pool of qualified applicants, Columbia Basin College (CBC) accepts applications for adjunct faculty to teach course offerings throughout the year. Applications are kept in the pool through the duration of the academic school year.
Instructional Rate:

Non-Instructional Rate:
$50.00

Meeting Rate:
$30.00
  • $30.
00 per hour If work is performed outside of instruction, it will be paid at the non-instructional rate of $50.00 per hour or the meeting rate of $30.00 per hour. Columbia Basin College (CBC) is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Adjunct Instructor to join our Music Department. This position involves teaching in-person piano courses, as needed by the department. Adjunct faculty provide instruction for 11-week courses (Fall, Winter, Spring) and/or 8-week courses (Summer). There is no guarantee of continued employment beyond the quarter course assignment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching and committed to student success, ensuring a high-quality learning experience for all students. They will demonstrate flexibility in meeting the instructional and general responsibilities of their course assignment, including the effective use of diverse learning resources and technologies.

Primary Responsibilities Teach piano class courses for music majors, minors, and beginning piano students, including preparation for transfer exam requirements; Develop and deliver course content that is engaging, relevant, and accessible to a diverse student population; Foster a stimulating classroom environment that encourages student participation and success; Maintain accurate student records and provide reasonable accommodations as per ADA guidelines; Respond to student communications promptly and ensure access to course information; and Collaborate with campus affinity groups and contribute to initiatives that support inclusivity and equity. If you wish to view the CBC/AHE Collective Bargaining Agreement, please request a copy by emailing jobs@columbiabasin.edu Required Qualifications Master's degree in Music or bachelor's degree and demonstrable professional expertise/experience in piano; Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; Able to work with diverse student populations and faculty; Proficiency in instructional technology and learning management systems (i.e. Canvas, Panopto, Zoom); Committed to culturally responsive teaching strategies and practices; and Residency in Washington State. Preferred Qualifications Teaching experience preferred. The quarter schedule for the 2026-2027 academic year is as follows: Fall 2026: September 21
