Adjunct assignments are filled on an as needed-basis. As a position becomes available, you may be contacted by the hiring manager should the school/college be interested in scheduling an interview. The Department of Cinematic Arts invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach undergraduate courses in Cinematography.Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of adjunct faculty is to deliver instruction in the manner determined by the department. In addition, faculty responsibilities may include: Deliver high-quality instruction in cinematography that aligns with course goals and departmental standards. Prepare syllabi, manage classroom activities, evaluate student learning, and assign grades. Provide guidance and support to students through appropriate means of communication and consultation. Integrate Christian faith into course content and professional practice as appropriate. Uphold professional and ethical standards, including adherence to safety protocols and fostering mutual respect with students and colleagues.Qualifications:
Master's or terminal degree in cinematography, film production, or a related field preferred; significant industry experience and demonstrated success in one's craft will also be considered. Demonstrated practical expertise with professional digital cinema camera platforms, including hands-on experience with lenses, exposure control, lighting setups, and color correction. Proven ability to teach both foundational and advanced cinematography techniques, including studio and location shooting, grip equipment use, and industry-standard safety protocols. Strong understanding of cinematography as a narrative and emotional storytelling tool. College or university teaching experience preferred, with the ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds and support their learning effectively. Commitment to modeling a vibrant Christian faith consistent with APU's mission and values.Workload:
Assigned teaching duties will not exceed 9 units per semester; office hours and additional duties may be assigned. Total workload will not exceed 29 hours per week, nor 24 units per 12-month period.Mental Demands:
Ability to integrate Christian values in all aspects. Ability to engage in critical thinking and exercise independent judgment. Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage confidential information. Self-starter, ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.Compensation:
$25.32 - $27.32/hour. Adjuncts are paid on an hourly basis and the rate will be determined by qualifications and experience.Additional Information:
