Job Summary/Basic Function:
Interested applicants are encouraged to apply to be a Lecturer (Open Rank) teaching in University Foundations and Philosophy. The lecturer will teach two courses determined by the Philosophy department and two 200-level University Foundations courses for a total teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester. A successful candidate will possess the following: Interest, experience, and/or ability to teach interdisciplinarily. Interest, experience, and/or ability to design courses around learning outcomes. Interest, experience, and/or ability to integrate student-centered pedagogy and active learning practices. Interest, experience, and/or ability to promote dialogue across difference.
Level Scope:
Non-tenure, may undertake teaching, research and administrative duties within a specialist subject area. Lecturer 1: Master's degree with less than four years of contractual experience which may involve teaching while on a lecturer contract at Boise State University or equivalent position at another institution. Lecturer 2: Master's degree with four (4) or more years Contractual Experience, or terminal degree within one's discipline with less than four (4) years Contractual Experience. Lecturer 3: Terminal degree within one's discipline and four (4) years of Contractual Experience, or Master's degree with eight (8) or more years of Contractual Experience.
Essential Functions:
Teach two classes determined by the philosophy department, one of which should be a Foundations of the Discipline class, and two 200-level University Foundations courses per semester for a total teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester. Participate in a collaborative community of learning-centered faculty and staff.

Extensive knowledge of online learning best practices. Reliable, dedicated, productive, and adaptable. Ability to actively listen and appropriately respond to students, colleagues, and leadership. Work effectively both independently and as a member of a team. Exemplify professionalism and integrity. Thrive, engage, and work effectively in a dynamic, highly collaborative, results-driven, and interactive environment. Demonstrated commitment to the creation of effective learning spaces for students.
Minimum Qualifications:
A master's degree and appropriate experience to teach in Philosophy. Successful experience teaching in University Foundations or another academic department at Boise State. Experience and/or demonstrated ability to teach courses related to ethics at the university level. Current faculty status in the
College of Arts and Sciences Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. or terminal degree in Philosophy. Successful experience teaching both 200-level University Foundations courses and other Philosophy courses at Boise State.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
