Job Description
Saint Meinrad Seminary andSchool of Theology and Saint Meinrad Archabbey in southern Indiana seeks tohire an Associate Director of theSaint Meinrad Archabbey Library. Recentlyrenovated, the library houses a print collection of approximately 165,000volumes, as well as ashared print collection with 23 private academiclibraries throughout Indiana and a wide range of electronic resources. Thelibrary plays acritical role in supporting the educational mission of theSeminary and School of Theology, which is the initial and ongoing formation ofpriests, permanent deacons, and laity to minister together effectively in theservice and evangelization of the Roman Catholic Church andthe world. It also supportsthe ongoing intellectual, pastoral, spiritual, and human formation of a vibrantcommunity of Benedictine monks. Candidates for the associatedirector position should possess the following: Either advanced degree in religion ortheology with significant library experience or MLS degree with significant study of theology or related subjects Experience working with library resources supporting theological education or research Understanding of scholarly resourcessupporting the study of religion and theology Experience with managing and/or developing digital resources Willingnessto engage in user support and outreach Ability to articulate a vision for theological library collecting in print and digitalresources Ability to assist with technical services, library systems, and collection management Ability to work bothindependently and collaboratively Understanding of Catholic tradition and commitment to Catholic seminaryformation Experience in a seminary, college, university, orrelated setting that demonstrates leadership ability and directknowledge oflibrary operations and academic research Additional desirablequalifications: Competence in modernand/or ancient languages Experience with budget management and supervisionof personnel Saint Meinrad offers highlycompetitivesalaries and benefits.
