Job Description

Professor of Biblical Studies with Andrews University (Berrien Springs, MI) Teach full load of courses in Old Testament (OT) studies and Biblical Studies at the Masters and Doctoral levels, as prescribed by University Bulletin (16 credits per year). Develop curriculum, syllabus, and coursework. Advise Masters and Doctoral students and their program and course plans. Have office hours available to meet students for mentoring before and after classes. Provide timely, constructive feedback to students to help them monitor their progress and support learning. Participate in academic research providing publications for SDA and for non-SDA academic world. Develop a research agenda demonstrated through publications and/or presentations at professional conferences. Participate in programs, department, and university committees and service. Serve on doctoral dissertation committees. Participate in professional meetings such as SBL and ATS. Participate in University shared governance, committees, and other programs and opportunities that support the goals, mission, and values of Andrews as a Seventh-Day Adventist university. Requires a Ph.D. degree in Religious Studies, Old Testament, Specialty in the Book of Daniel or related field and 1 year of related experience in teaching graduate level courses, which must include some experience in each of the following skills: Using Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia Critical Apparatus and Septuaginta Critical Apparatus in research and teaching; Experience with Accordance or Logos Bible Software tools for teaching Biblical languages and conducting research; and Scholarly Leadership and Professional Involvement in Textual Studies and the Book of Daniel Research areas.
