Job Summary The Center for Translation Studies at The University of Texas at Dallas is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to for the position of Associate Director of the Center. The ideal candidate will have expertise in translation studies, digital translation practices, the history of translation studies, and editorial experience. In addition, the candidate should be guided by "vordenken": thinking toward the future. The Center for Translation Studies was founded in 1978, when the field of translation studies was in its infancy and even the idea of literary translation was still met with much resistance of faculty members of other disciplines within the humanities. Over four decades later, the translationmunity represents a vibrant multicultural and interdisciplinary space within literature and the humanities. The four pillars of the Center—teaching, research, publishing, andmunity engagement—contribute to promoting and fostering innovations in the field of translation studies. Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in a related field; 5-7 years related professional experience; or any equivalentbination of education and experience. Preferred Education and Experience Master's degree or doctoral degree in Translation Studies (or a graduate certificate in literary translation or degree in literature with a focus in translation studies). Other Qualifications To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsibilities include managing the scholarly journal -Translation Review -published by the Center, writing the Center's newsletter, managing and updating the Center's and the Translation Review , planning events, managing social media accounts, and fundraising, along with any other duties related to promoting the Center for Translation Studies and ensuring its smooth operation.
