- SFL 223: Preparation for Marriage (Online) Although this position will be taught 'online,' it still requires the successful candidate to relocate to and/or reside in Utah for the duration of their employment.

A Master's or PhD in Human Development, Family Studies, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field is required. The required degree must be completed by the start date.Experience:
Teaching experience at the university level in Human Development, Family Studies, or Marriage and Family Therapy is preferred.Duties/Expectations:
Successful applicants will teach a 3-credit, semester class to undergraduate students in the School of Family Life. This is scheduled as an on-demand remote online class for Fall 2026 semester. By the end of the semester students in this class should be able to: Increase understanding of the Lord's divine plan for own personal development and marriage relationship (e.g., personal progression, the divine institution of marriage, the covenant of marriage, family stewardships, etc.) leading to lifelong learning and service. Increase capacity and skills in problem solving and communication in relationships. Be sensitive to modern threats to dating and marriage in contemporary culture using social science research and gospel principles. Increase understanding of the Savior's doctrines of marriage, including gospel teachings on equal partnership, love, commitment, forgiveness, chastity, dating, courtship, sexual intimacy, finances, becoming parents, marital distress, and other aspects of the marital stewardship. Increase awareness of the factors that social science research has shown to contribute to the formation and maintenance of healthy and stable marriages. Enhance own spiritual awareness and academic skills to help weigh scholarly and contemporary ideas about marriage relationships and use both faith and scholarship to evaluate issues surrounding marriage and defend the institution of marriage throughout life.
