In this vital role, you will create engaging learning environments that foster spiritual growth, cultural understanding, and community connection. Your leadership will help nurture the next generation of informed, compassionate individuals who appreciate their heritage and are motivated to live meaningful lives rooted in Jewish principles. Duties Develop and deliver dynamic lessons on Jewish history, religious texts, holidays, and cultural practices tailored to diverse age groups Foster a welcoming classroom environment that encourages questions, discussion, and personal reflection Provide mentorship and guidance to students navigating their spiritual journeys and personal development Collaborate with families, community leaders, and other educators to support student growth and engagement Leadership - Mitzvah Secular Sunday School Teacher Our Sunday School exceeded enrollment projections for 5786 ('25-'26) and is looking to expand our faculty team! Our Mitzvah Secular Sunday School (MSSS) meets for two hours approximately every other week on Sunday mornings for the duration of the local school year and serves youth from ages 4-13. This is a paid W-2 role with opportunities for raises and promotions.
Required :
WA Teachers Certificate, Bachelors or higher in Education or equivalent, clear a comprehensive background check (criminal, education, employment and financial).
Preferred:
Experience with leadership, Jewish culture (i.e.: history, holidays, languages), public speaking, teaching youth ages 4-13, teaching students with disabilities, DEI/intersectionality, share our philosophy and values as secular humanists. Utilize effective communication skills to connect with students of varying backgrounds and learning styles Lead initiatives that promote inclusivity, diversity, and social responsibility within the community Experience Proven experience teaching Jewish studies or related religious education at various age levels Demonstrated leadership skills in managing classroom settings and guiding student activities Strong communication skills for engaging with students, families, and community members effectively Experience in event planning for religious or cultural celebrations and community outreach programs Background in mentoring youth or providing social work support within a faith-based context Familiarity with hospice care or bereavement support services is a plus for providing compassionate guidance during difficult times Knowledge of Christian counseling techniques can enhance your ability to support diverse emotional needs (where applicable) Prior involvement in fundraising efforts for religious or community organizations is advantageous This role is ideal for someone eager to make a meaningful difference through education while fostering a vibrant Jewish community.
