Job Description

Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Adaptive Physical Education Specialist to join our dynamic educational team. In this role, you will design and implement inclusive physical education programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities, including those with developmental disabilities, autism, visual impairments, and other special needs. Your energetic approach will inspire students to develop their motor skills, coordination, and confidence through engaging activities that promote physical health, social interaction, and overall well-being. Responsibilities Develop and deliver adaptive physical education curricula that accommodate individual student needs and align with IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals. Assess students' motor skills, physical abilities, and progress regularly to tailor instruction effectively. Collaborate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists to support comprehensive student development. Incorporate learning technology and innovative instructional strategies to enhance engagement and skill acquisition. Manage classroom behavior and implement behavioral management techniques to create a safe, supportive environment conducive to learning. Plan and facilitate recreational therapy activities that promote social skills, teamwork, and physical activity among students with disabilities. Document student progress meticulously, including lesson plans, assessments, and standardized testing results, ensuring clear communication with families and team members. Skills Strong knowledge of special education principles, including curriculum development for diverse learning needs. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, visual impairments, or other disabilities in educational settings. Proficiency in teaching physical education while integrating speech therapy techniques and behavioral therapy strategies. Familiarity with early childhood education frameworks such as Montessori or preschool experience is a plus. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and caregivers. Ability to design instructional plans that incorporate literacy education, math concepts, and early intervention strategies. Skilled in classroom management and behavior management techniques to foster positive learning environments. $52,051.77 - $62,686.01 per year
