Role:
As a Physical Education Teacher at Heritage Oak, you will design and deliver a comprehensive PE curriculum for elementary and middle school students that promotes physical wellness, motor skill development, teamwork, and social-emotional growth. You will create a safe, inclusive, and active learning environment that encourages all students to participate, challenge themselves, and build lifelong fitness habits. This role is ideal for educators who are enthusiastic about youth development, athletics, movement education, and fostering positive student relationships. Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging Physical Education lessons aligned with grade-level learning objectives and student developmental needs Teach a variety of physical activities, including fitness, team sports, movement skills, coordination, and wellness education Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom culture that emphasizes teamwork, respect, perseverance, and sportsmanship Promote physical fitness, healthy habits, and active lifestyles among students Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback on participation, skill development, and effort Ensure student safety during all physical activities and maintain appropriate supervision standards Organize and manage equipment, gym spaces, and outdoor activity areas Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support student growth and school initiatives Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress and participation Support school events, athletic programs, assemblies, and community activities as needed Preferred Skills & Experience Experience teaching in a private school or independent school setting Knowledge of age-appropriate physical development and fitness instruction Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learning styles and abilities CPR/First Aid certification preferred Experience leading school sports, enrichment programs, or extracurricular activities is a plus
What We Are Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Education, or a related field from an accredited college or university Teaching credential or PE certification preferred Previous teaching or coaching experience with elementary and/or middle school students strongly preferred Strong classroom management and student engagement skills Passion for youth fitness, athletics, and student wellness Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration abilities Ability to pass state and federal background checks Physical Education teacher to support K-8th grade students. Works alongside a PE team. Coaching for sports is an additional stipend, if interested. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
