Aug 12, 2026 Job Description For the 2026-27 school year, the district's EPIC Program and Snowy Peaks High School are seeking a 0.5 Expelled and At-Risk teacher, combined with a 0.25 Physical Education Teacher. This position is part-time for a total of 0.75 FTE. About Snowy Peaks Junior Senior High School Snowy Peaks Junior Senior High School is Summit School District's small, nontraditional school option serving students in grades 7-12. As a magnet program focused on transformational education, Snowy Peaks is dedicated to helping both students and staff grow into their best selves. Our work is grounded in relationship based education and a deep belief that meaningful connections are the foundation for academic growth, personal development, and belonging. Serving approximately 85 students, Snowy Peaks offers a highly student centered and individualized learning experience. Our community prioritizes character, motivation, integrity, and personal responsibility, creating a caring environment where students are known, supported, and challenged. Teachers at Snowy Peaks maintain a relentless focus on student growth while building strong, authentic relationships with every learner. Collaboration, flexibility, and shared ownership of student success are central to our culture. Desired Qualities and Experience The ideal candidate is passionate about working closely with adolescents and demonstrates a strong ability to build positive relationships and foster engagement in the classroom. We are seeking educators who are reflective, growth oriented, and energized by working in a small, close knit learning community.
Preferred qualifications include:
Experience in teaching at-risk and expelled students Experience in creating and faciliting educational programming with off-campus expelled students Certification in an evidence-based training program (ex. Safety Care or CPI) to prevent, de-escalate, and manage crisis behaviors Experience in teaching, overseeing, and progress monitoring students across multiple content areas using online curricula Experience in teaching Physical Education and Health to grades 7-12 Credentials in multiple content areas or flexibility to teach across disciplines Demonstrated ability to create engaging, student centered learning experiences Strong relationship building skills with students and colleagues Experience or interest in outdoor or experiential education Willingness to collaborate, innovate, and contribute to a shared vision of transformational education Snowy Peaks is a place for educators who believe deeply in students, value relationships, and are excited to be part of a learning community built on love, growth, and possibility.
