Qualifications:

Applicant must be enrolled in Relay Education graduate program with a current letter of acceptance.

Performance Responsibilities:

Fulfill all requirements as provided by the partnering institution of higher education. Adhere to all policies and procedures in the Laurel School District. Work directly under the guidance of the assigned partnering Teacher. Support partnering teacher in all aspects of classroom instruction and management. Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. Strive to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives. Continuously improve practice and strive to implement the most up-to-date and effective teaching strategies. Collaborate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives and methods. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others. Participate in professional growth activities and professional learning communities. Other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment:

10-month position Upon satisfactory completion of the partnering program, Laurel School District shall recommend the resident for full-time teaching role aligned to their certification area(s).

Salary and Benefits:

Salary stipend of up ro $37,000 (dependent upon employment type). Per the terms of employment stated above, the resident must secure employment for 3 to 5 subsequent years or repay $25,000 to the state of Delaware.

Evaluation:

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the intern's institution of higher education's program and the Laurel School District.
