Job Description

Iroquois West High School is seeking a student-centered and energetic educator to serve as a full-time Driver's Education and Physical Education Teacher. The ideal candidate will build positive relationships with students, promote healthy lifestyles, support student growth, and provide engaging instruction in both physical education and driver education courses. This position offers an opportunity to positively impact students through instruction focused on safety, wellness, responsibility, teamwork, and lifelong healthy habits. Essential Responsibilities Teach Physical Education courses aligned to Illinois Learning Standards Teach Driver's Education classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training in accordance with Illinois State Board of Education requirements Create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment Develop lessons that encourage participation, fitness, teamwork, and personal responsibility Maintain accurate student records, grades, and driving logs Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and administration Support school initiatives focused on student engagement, attendance, and school culture Supervise students in various school settings and activities Collaborate with colleagues as part of a professional learning community Participate in district professional development and school improvement efforts Qualifications Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) Appropriate Illinois endorsements in Physical Education and Driver's Education Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills Ability to motivate and engage high school students Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive school environment
