Primary Focus:
To support and mentor teachers directly in classrooms with an emphasis on strengthening Tier 1 instruction.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in education and valid Kansas teaching license Success as a classroom teacher Knowledge of content standards, effective instructional practices, and assessments Experience with professional development and working with groups of educators Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Responsibilities:
Buids collaborative relationships with teachers through coaching and mentoring cycles Visits classrooms regularly to observe and model lessons, provide feedback, and support classroom management Demonstrates effective Tier 1 instructional practices and engagement strategies Supports teachers with daily classroom instruction, planning, and student engagement Assists teachers in reflecting on instructional practices and student outcomes Helps teachers establish weekly and monthly instructional goals Conducts frequent check-ins and follow-up meetings with teachers regarding progress toward goals Provides individualized coaching and support related to classroom instruction and management Supports implementation of classroom management systems and proactive behavior supports Participates in PLCs and collaborative planning to support teacher growth Collaborates primarily with building administration and classroom teachers Technology may be included, but not the primary focus. Focuses more heavily on instructional delivery and classroom effectiveness Help teachers create engaging standards-aligned lessons Supports differentiation and instructional strategies for all learners Monitors teacher growth and implementation of instructional goals Works closely with student teachers, new teachers, and classroom teachers Maintains knowledge of college/university student teacher requirements and expectations Serve as a teacher mentor and classroom-based instructional support role More relationship-oriented and teacher support focused Narrower focus centered on Tier 1 instruction and teacher development Often supports teacher growth through individualized coaching and modeling Emphasis on instructional growth, mentoring, and classroom practice Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Requirements may include prolonged sitting or standing, physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials, climbing stairs, stooping, bending, and reaching
Evaluation:
The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the negotiated agreement.
