The ideal candidate will create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment that promotes physical activity, health literacy, teamwork, personal responsibility, and overall well-being. Key Responsibilities Instruction and Curriculum Develop and deliver engaging physical education and health lessons aligned with state and district standards. Teach a variety of physical activities, fitness concepts, team and individual sports, and health education topics. Promote healthy lifestyles, nutrition, mental health awareness, substance abuse prevention, and personal wellness. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs, abilities, and learning styles of students. Integrate technology and innovative teaching practices to enhance student learning and engagement. Student Development Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom and gymnasium environment. Encourage students to set personal fitness and wellness goals. Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative methods. Support students' social-emotional growth, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship. Safety and Supervision Maintain a safe learning environment and enforce all safety procedures during physical activities. Inspect and monitor equipment and facilities to ensure proper use and maintenance. Supervise students during classes, fitness activities, locker room use, and school-sponsored events as assigned. Perform other duties consistent with the position and as directed by school administration. Collaboration and Communication Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, counselors, and support staff to promote student success. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and concerns. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and school initiatives. Contribute to curriculum development and continuous program improvement. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Health Education, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field. Valid state teaching certification/licensure in Physical Education and/or Health Education. Knowledge of adolescent development, fitness principles, and health education standards. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Ability to create an inclusive environment that supports students of all backgrounds and abilities. Preferred Master's degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field. CPR, AED, and First Aid certification. Experience teaching at the high school level. Coaching experience and/or willingness to support extracurricular athletics. Familiarity with standards-based grading and assessment practices. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong instructional planning and organizational skills. Ability to motivate and engage students in physical activity and healthy behaviors. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student wellness. Effective interpersonal and collaboration skills. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic school environment.
