Job Description

Position Overview:
RSU 48-Great Salt Bay School in Damariscotta, Maine, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School PE/Health Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physical education and health, a commitment to student wellness, and the ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment. The Middle School PE/Health Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, assessing student progress, and fostering an understanding of the importance of physical fitness and health.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with Maine state standards. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students. Assess and monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments. Provide feedback and support to students to help them improve their physical fitness and health knowledge. Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administrators to support student learning and development. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in physical education and health instruction. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and attendance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Valid Maine teaching certification or eligibility for certification. Proven experience teaching physical education and health at the middle school level. Strong knowledge of Maine standards and best instructional practices. Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and administrators.
