DISTRICT DESCRIPTION

Benzie Central Schools serves over 1,100 students K-12 and encompasses over 350 square miles in the beautiful terrain of Northwest Michigan. The Early Childhood program is housed in Lake Ann Elementary, Homestead Hills Elementary and Betsie Valley Elementary consisting of programs serving 3 and 4-year old's in partnership with GSRP and Head Start. There are six villages in the district, which is also convenient to the cities of Traverse City, Manistee, and Frankfort. Benzie Central has 3 elementary schools serving grades K-5, a middle / high school serving grades 6-12, and an alternative setting high school.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning
• Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessments that are in accordance with district provided curriculum. Instruct/monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
• Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction
• Plan and deliver lessons that incorporate technology and help students understand various concepts
• Develop instructional materials, manage classrooms, and assist with technology-related issues.
• Teach students how to use software programs, configure backups, and create lesson plans.
• Establish classroom structures that value positive relationships through intentional implementation of the district curriculum
• Support non-academic needs through the student support network district system in order to remove barriers that may interfere with academic success
• Provide appropriate feedback on work
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and utilize information gleaned to adjust teaching strategies
• Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development, updating as required by law, district policy, and school regulations
• Prepare required reports on students and activities
• Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings
• Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs
• Establish and communicate clear goals and objectives for all learning activities
• Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
• Observe and evaluate student performance and development
