The ideal candidate will be passionate about promoting physical fitness, healthy lifestyles, and the importance of teamwork among students. This full-time position involves developing and implementing engaging physical education programs that cater to the diverse needs of our students, fostering a positive and inclusive environment that encourages participation and skill development. Responsibilities Design and implement a comprehensive physical education curriculum that aligns with state standards and promotes physical fitness, motor skills, and teamwork. Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress and adapt instructional strategies to meet individual needs. Create a safe and supportive learning environment that encourages students to engage in physical activities and develop healthy habits. Organize and supervise a variety of physical activities, including games, sports, and fitness challenges, ensuring student safety at all times. Collaborate with other educators, parents, and community members to promote physical education and wellness initiatives. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance in physical education classes. Provide guidance and support to students in developing sportsmanship, cooperation, and respect for others. Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and stay current with educational trends. Foster a positive relationship with students, encouraging them to express their thoughts and feelings about physical activity and health. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or a related field. Valid state teaching certification in Physical Education. Previous experience teaching physical education at the elementary level is preferred. Strong knowledge of physical fitness, sports, and health education principles. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students. Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in physical education. CPR and First Aid certification is a plus. Travel Requirements Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Work Schedule Standard teacher work schedule as set forth in the Teachers' Unit Contract.
