The Grain Valley School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a High School Girls Physical Education Teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and implementing an engaging physical education curriculum, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, and promoting health and wellness among our students.Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive physical education curriculum, incorporating a variety of activities and exercises to promote physical fitness, skill development, and overall wellness. Plan and facilitate instructional activities, including individual and team sports, fitness training, and health education lessons, while ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment for all students. Assess student progress and performance through ongoing evaluation methods, including skill assessments, fitness testing, and student self-reflection, and provide timely feedback to students and parents/guardians. Collaborate with colleagues to integrate physical education objectives with other subject areas and support interdisciplinary learning opportunities within the school community. Serve as a positive role model for students, promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect for self and others, both on and off the field. Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and school administrators regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns related to physical education programming. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in physical education, health education, and student wellness initiatives. Perform additional duties as assigned by the school administration to support the overall mission and goals of the Grain Valley School District.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or related field (Master's degree preferred). Valid teaching certification/license in Physical Education (or eligibility for certification/license in Missouri). Experience teaching physical education at the high school level, with a focus on female students preferred. Strong knowledge of physical fitness concepts, exercise physiology, and health-related topics. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in physical education programming. Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).Position Type:
