Over 97% of our students identify as Latinx, and many are bilingual or English learners. Our network includes Guadalupe Centers Elementary School, Guadalupe Centers Middle School, and Guadalupe Centers High School. GCCS grew out of Guadalupe Centers' educational programs — part of the longest continuously operating agency serving the Latinx community in the United States since 1919. This role engages students in physical activities while also providing instruction in health education, including topics such as nutrition, mental health, personal wellness, and healthy decision-making. The teacher fosters a safe, inclusive environment that supports both physical and social-emotional development. Reports To Building Principal Duties and Responsibilities Plan and deliver standards-aligned instruction in physical education and health education. Teach skills related to physical fitness, movement, sports, and overall wellness. Provide instruction in health topics such as nutrition, personal health, mental wellness, and healthy lifestyles. Demonstrate and teach proper techniques, safety procedures, and use of equipment. Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students. Establish and maintain clear expectations for student behavior and participation. Assess student progress in both physical education and health content areas. Promote lifelong fitness habits and responsible decision-making. Supervise students during indoor and outdoor physical activities. Collaborate with colleagues, staff, and families to support student success. Participate in IEP and 504 meetings as needed. Maintain accurate records and fulfill professional responsibilities in a timely manner. Participate in professional development and continuous learning opportunities. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Skills and Abilities Strong classroom management skills in active and structured environments. Knowledge of physical education and health curriculum and best practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to maintain professionalism in high-energy environments. Commitment to serving diverse and underserved student populations. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field. Valid Missouri teaching certification in Physical Education and/or Health (K-12 preferred). Experience in an urban school setting preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to actively participate in and demonstrate physical activities. Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 45 pounds. Ability to supervise students in indoor and outdoor environments.
