Job Summary:
Pembroke Hill is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Physical Education & Health Teacher to join our middle school team. This position plays a crucial role in promoting lifelong health, wellness, and fitness among students in grades 6-8. The school values a sense of humor and a positive and ambitious attitude. Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field Experience teaching middle school students, preferred Strong classroom management skills and the ability to motivate and engage students Commitment to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle for all students Excellent technology, communication, and collaboration skills Previous athletic coaching experience strongly preferred Proven ability to model health and fitness to engage students Key Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging PE and health/wellness curricula. Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and growth. Teach fundamental movement skills, team sports, personal fitness, and health education topics such as nutrition, mental health, and overall wellness. Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support skill development. Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive social interactions among students. Maintain a safe and organized learning environment, including proper use of equipment and facilities. Athletic coaching is required for this position (stipend for coaching). Collaborate with colleagues to plan lessons. Track and maintain workouts for upper school students. Create an engaging environment to encourage sessions. Partner with other middle and upper school teachers and coaches to create the best programming and experience for students.
Schedule:
Teaching positions are based on the school year (August through May). During the school year, there are three school breaks - one week at Thanksgiving, two weeks in December, and two weeks in March -plus holidays, personal and sick days. This position requires athletic coaching in a minimum of one season that requires after school and weekend work.
Compensation:
Compensation will be based on a competitive norm influenced by local non profit as well as peer independent schools in the nation, using work experience and education. Transcripts and verification of employment will be required.
