Job Description

PE Teacher - Durham Secondary School Long-Term Supply Teaching Personnel is recruiting a qualified PE Teacher for a long-term supply position at a secondary school in Durham, with a September 2026 start date. The school is looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic PE Teacher who can deliver high quality lessons across KS3 and KS4, contribute to the wider sporting life of the school, and bring genuine energy to the department. Physical Education is a subject that extends well beyond the classroom, and the right candidate will understand the broader role it plays in student wellbeing, confidence, and personal development. What you'll be doing: Planning and delivering PE lessons across KS3 and KS4 Teaching across a range of sports and physical activities in line with the national curriculum Assessing student progress and supporting students of all abilities and fitness levels Maintaining high standards of behaviour and safety across all activities Contributing to extracurricular sport and wider school activities where appropriate Upholding the school's safeguarding responsibilities at all times To be considered: QTS or equivalent — essential A degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related discipline Proven experience teaching PE at secondary level Strong subject knowledge across a broad range of sports and physical activities First aid qualification desirable Enhanced DBS on the Update Service Teaching Personnel offers: MPS/UPS salary — £32,916 to £51,048 depending on experience Weekly pay via PAYE Dedicated consultant support Free CPD and professional development Opportunities for permanent employment Send your CV or call 0191 223 5071.
