NATURE OF WORK
The Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher is responsible for providing instruction to high school students in the Career Technical Education Field. The teacher will deliver curriculum aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and CTE pathway courses while promoting career awareness and workforce readiness in appropriate fields.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans and delivers instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences aligned with state curriculum standards. Develops lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments to support student achievement. Provides instruction in career technical topics and related areas. Establishes and maintains a classroom environment conducive to learning. Evaluates student academic and technical progress and provides feedback to students and parents/guardians as appropriate. Maintains accurate records of student attendance, grades, and course documentation. Utilizes instructional technology and resources to enhance student learning. Ensures compliance with district policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. Collaborates with school administrators, counselors, and CTE staff to support program objectives and student success. Participates in required meetings, professional development, and school activities as appropriate for the assignment. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the school principal or district administration.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of instructional methods appropriate for secondary students. Ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, and staff. Ability to manage a classroom environment and maintain discipline consistent with district policies. Knowledge of career and technical education programs and career pathways. Ability to incorporate technology into instruction.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Valid North Carolina teaching license or eligibility for a restricted CTE provisional license with North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must meet all licensure requirements established by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction for CTE teachers. Must complete required district and state training.
