Since 1891, St. Joseph's School for the Blind has been providing specialized services to individuals with visual impairments across New Jersey. Founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace, the School is comprised of several programs, such as: Early Intervention, In-district Support Services, School for the Blind, and Adult Services. As a non-sectarian organization, they are proud to serve individuals of all races, creeds and national origins. Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Health and Physical Education Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will inspire students to engage in physical activities, promote healthy lifestyles, and foster a love for fitness and sports. This role involves developing and implementing a comprehensive physical education curriculum that meets the needs of all students while encouraging teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or higher (Required) New Jersey Health and Physical Education Teaching Certification (Required) New Jersey Standard Instructional Certification (Required)
Duties:
Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated. Develops, plans, and implements goals for each student. Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. Creates a gym and classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Participates in planning and implementing of specific behavior interventions. Works cooperatively with classroom teachers and related services in planning an effective, comprehensive physical education program. Assesses the learning, social, and emotional needs and styles of students. Evaluates each pupil's growth in physical education-related knowledge and skills, maintains records of pupils' progress and summarizes these marks for reporting purposes and writing summaries in student Individual Education Plans (IEP's). Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment to ensure the overall safety of pupils. Assumes responsibility for proper use and storage of physical education equipment. Conduct health classes for all students
