We are dedicated to finding candidates who are deeply committed to Catholic education and possess the expertise to craft dynamic and immersive learning environments for our students. Additionally, we seek educators who are proactive in partnering with families, fostering professional and supportive relationships to enrich the educational journey of every child.. Located on Main Street in Amherst, New York, Saint Benedict School offers programs in Pre-K3 through 8th grade to almost 450 students from the surrounding area. Saint Benedict School is committed to providing a high quality, faith-based education. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Physical Education Teacher Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality, standards-aligned physical education instruction that is purposeful, well-paced, and developmentally appropriate across PreK3-8. Design lessons that build foundational skills, promote physical fitness, and intentionally develop teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. Use assessment and observation to monitor student progress and adjust instruction to ensure growth for all learners. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs and create inclusive opportunities for participation and success. Establish and consistently reinforce clear expectations for behavior, safety, and effort in all settings. Maximize instructional time through strong organization, routines, and transitions. Communicate regularly and professionally with families regarding student progress and expectations. Collaborate with faculty and administration to support student development and contribute to a positive school culture. Maintain accurate records, including grading and participation in an electronic gradebook. Actively participate in school life, including events, supervision, and professional responsibilities. Athletic Director Responsibilities (Stipend Position): Oversee and coordinate the school's athletic programs, including scheduling, communication, and logistics. Support coaches while ensuring alignment with school expectations and values. Manage equipment, uniforms, and game-day operations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Physical Education, or a related field (required) Valid New York State Physical Education Certification, or comparable certification (preferred) Coaching or athletic program experience preferred Strong classroom management and instructional skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Commitment to Catholic teachings and values Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team Employment is contingent upon acceptable results of a state and federal background check, completion of VIRTUS Training, reference check, and completion of all necessary paperwork.
