Physical Education Teacher

The Discovery Charter School, located in Rochester, NY is searching for a Physical Education Teacher for grades K-6 to orchestrate a dynamic physical education program while displaying a passion for collaboration, a belief in every student's capacity, and the ability to form strong relationships with students, their families and other staff members

Job Duties:

1. Plan and deliver effective lessons within the context of an urban, high-need population 2. Take the lead in building a school-wide culture which embraces and celebrates physical development 3. Build a community of learning school-wide 4. Foster character, social-emotional competency and physical development 5. Promote adventure while supporting the school's mission and vision 6. Perform other instructional duties, as deemed appropriate by the

Director Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Passionate about students and the role of physical health in students' lives 2. Strong athletic skills 3. Ability to work with diverse children, including those with special needs 4. Ability to work effectively as a team member 5. Willingness to be held accountable for student progress

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Current valid New York State Teaching Certificate in Physical Education preferred 2. Master's degree in education related field 3. Prior experience with high need students in an urban setting prioritized
