Aliquippa School District Position Summary The Aliquippa School District is seeking a dynamic, dedicated Health & Physical Education Teacher to provide engaging, standards-aligned instruction that promotes lifelong wellness, physical fitness, and healthy decision-making. The teacher will foster a positive learning environment, support students' physical, social, emotional, and mental well-being, and contribute to the overall development of all learners. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Plan and deliver effective daily lessons in health education and physical education aligned with Pennsylvania Academic Standards and district curriculum. Design and implement developmentally appropriate activities that promote physical fitness, motor skill development, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles. Teach health topics including nutrition, personal wellness, mental health awareness, substance abuse prevention, safety education, and healthy decision-making. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technology tools, and assessment methods to engage diverse learners. Assess, monitor, and track student progress through formative and summative assessments. Adapt instruction and activities to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and learning styles. Promote student participation, sportsmanship, cooperation, and personal responsibility. Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment in classrooms, gymnasiums, fitness areas, and outdoor activity spaces. Implement effective classroom and activity management procedures consistent with school and district policies. Ensure proper use, care, and inventory of physical education equipment and instructional materials. Follow all district safety procedures and supervise students appropriately during physical activities. Foster a culture of wellness, fitness, and healthy living throughout the school community. Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, school nurses, counselors, and support staff to support student growth and wellness. Participate in team meetings, professional learning communities (PLCs), and district professional development sessions. Assist with school-wide wellness initiatives, health promotion activities, and special events as assigned. Serve as a role model for students by demonstrating professionalism, responsibility, ethical conduct, and healthy lifestyle practices. Maintain accurate records and prepare reports as required by the district and Pennsylvania Department of Education. Encourage students to develop lifelong habits related to physical activity, health, and wellness. Identify and support students with academic, behavioral, physical, or social-emotional needs in collaboration with appropriate staff. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, participation, and wellness concerns. Promote positive relationships, teamwork, leadership, and character development through physical activity and health education. Support district initiatives related to student wellness, mental health, attendance, and school climate. Required Qualifications Valid Pennsylvania Health and Physical Education Teaching Certification. Strong knowledge of health education, physical education curriculum, and student wellness practices. Effective communication, organizational, and classroom management skills. Ability to safely supervise and instruct students in a variety of physical activities. Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience teaching health and physical education at the elementary, middle, or secondary level. Experience integrating technology into health and physical education instruction. Knowledge of Pennsylvania School Wellness Policy requirements and student wellness initiatives. Familiarity with MTSS, PBIS, restorative practices, and trauma-informed approaches. Coaching experience and/or experience leading extracurricular activities.
