Job Description

High School/ JH PE Teacher Ben Bolt, TX Full-time Full-time Position Title High School and Junior High Physical Education (PE) Teacher Reports To Campus Principal and/or Athletic Director Department Instruction / Physical Education Employment Status Full-Time, Exempt Certification Requirements Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate Physical Education certification as required by the Texas Education Agency. Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (preferred or required by district policy). Compliance with all state and district requirements for educators. Primary Purpose Provide students in grades 6-12 with a comprehensive physical education program that develops physical fitness, motor skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, healthy lifestyle habits, and personal responsibility. Create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment that supports the educational mission of a small rural or community-based 2A school district. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience Experience teaching physical education at the junior high and/or high school level preferred. Coaching experience preferred but not required. Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Physical Education. Ability to develop and implement engaging lesson plans. Knowledge of fitness assessment, injury prevention, and student wellness. Strong classroom management and student supervision skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, parents, and community members. Major Responsibilities and Duties Instructional Responsibilities Plan and implement standards-based physical education lessons aligned with Texas TEKS. Teach students proper techniques, rules, and safety procedures for individual and team sports. Promote lifelong fitness and healthy lifestyle choices. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. Assess student progress and maintain accurate records of achievement and participation. Incorporate fitness testing and goal-setting activities. Student Management Establish and maintain appropriate standards of student behavior. Ensure a safe and orderly learning environment in gymnasiums, weight rooms, locker rooms, and outdoor facilities. Supervise students during all PE activities and transitions. Address student discipline issues in accordance with district policies. Program Management Maintain and inventory PE equipment and supplies. Assist in recommending purchases and replacements of equipment. Ensure facilities and equipment are used safely and properly. Coordinate activities that support school wellness initiatives. Communication Maintain positive communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and concerns. Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and coaches. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and district training. Professional Responsibilities Comply with district policies and state regulations. Maintain confidentiality of student information. Demonstrate professionalism and ethical conduct at all times. Continue professional growth through workshops and training opportunities. Additional Duties Coach one or more athletic programs. Sponsor student organizations or extracurricular activities. Assist with game management, athletic events, and school functions. Perform other duties assigned by the principal or athletic director. Working Conditions Mental Demands Maintain emotional control under stress. Work effectively with students, parents, staff, and community members. Manage multiple responsibilities and schedules. Physical Demands Frequent standing, walking, running, bending, lifting, and demonstrating physical activities. Ability to lift and move athletic equipment up to 50 pounds. Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Evaluation Performance will be evaluated in accordance with district policy, campus expectations, and the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) or other district-approved appraisal system.
