PE Teacher

Scope The TWMS part-time PE Teacher is responsible for developing the foundational physical literacy, motor skills, and health awareness of students. The part-time PE Teacher will mentor our young students in their journey of faith. Duties and Responsibilities Design and implement age-appropriate lesson plans based on state or national standards (such as SHAPE America) that focus on motor skills, fitness, and health education. Teach fundamental movements such as throwing, catching, running, and jumping, as well as introducing basic team sports, rhythms, and dance.

• Instruct students on the benefits of regular exercise, proper nutrition, and healthy lifestyle choices. Maintain a safe environment by regularly inspecting equipment (like balls, mats, and hoops) and supervising students during indoor and outdoor activities to prevent injury.
• Communicating with families Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field. Valid state teaching license or certification in Physical Education (grades K-12 or P-5). Current CPR, First Aid, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certifications are required.
• Must meet The Woodlands Methodist Church and The Woodlands Methodist School requirements, which include fingerprinting and an extensive background check.

Understanding nutrition, anatomy and physiology is recommended Organization and administration skills are required. Excellent communication and listening skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Planning and project management skills. Being assertive and professional. Stress management. Experience working in a school or other academic setting required. Committed Christian that is comfortable sharing their faith with students and families. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must be able to lift and/or move items over 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
