Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Secondary Physical Education/Health Teacher to join our team for a full-time position. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop a love for physical activity and an understanding of health and wellness. This role requires effective teaching strategies to engage students in physical education and health curriculum, fostering a positive and inclusive environment that promotes lifelong fitness and healthy habits. Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards for physical education and health education. Teach various physical activities, including team and individual sports, fitness, and health-related topics, ensuring a well-rounded curriculum. Assess student performance and progress through regular evaluations, providing constructive feedback to support their growth. Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and respects diversity among students. Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate health and wellness concepts across the curriculum. Organize and supervise extracurricular activities, such as sports teams and fitness clubs, to promote student involvement in physical activities. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress reports. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student performance and any concerns. Stay current with developments in physical education and health education, attending professional development workshops and conferences as needed. Promote a positive school culture that values physical fitness and healthy lifestyles. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field. Valid teaching certification or license in Physical Education and Health for secondary education. Strong knowledge of physical education principles, health education, and fitness. Experience working with adolescents in an educational or coaching capacity is preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students and foster a supportive learning environment. Ability to create inclusive lesson plans that accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Commitment to promoting student health and wellness both in and out of the classroom. CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
