Coordinator, RaeLynn Forcella at raelynn.forcella@esd112.org . Skamania School District is recruiting for a Middle School Classroom & PE Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. This position entails two primary roles within the Skamania School District for the 2026-27 school year. Firstly, as a half-time Middle School Teacher, the role involves providing full-time classroom teaching in a middle school (7-8) English Language Arts and Social Studies classroom, focusing on establishing a safe and positive learning environment while delivering rigorous and engaging instruction. Secondly, as the half time PE teacher, responsibilities include planning and delivering a comprehensive physical education curriculum to students in grades TK-8. The PE teacher will create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes physical fitness, motor skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. They will assess student progress, provide feedback, and collaborate with colleagues to integrate physical education into the overall school curriculum.
Intermediate Teacher Duties Establishing and clarifying acceptable standards for student behavior and demonstrating effective classroom management skills. Monitoring students in various educational environments to provide a safe and positive learning environment, handling social/emotional issues as they arise. Providing direct instruction to students in a regular classroom. Motivating and communicating with students from varied educational and cultural backgrounds. Incorporating relevant, rigorous, and challenging learning activities in daily lessons. Differentiating instruction based on student level. Attending and contributing to staff meetings, trainings, and IEP/504 meetings. Collaborating with other staff members in planning district curriculum and instructional methods, goals, and objectives. Maintaining a cooperative attitude with leadership, staff, parents, and students. Actively participating in the MTSS process. PE Teacher Duties Planning and implementing developmentally appropriate physical education lessons and activities that align with state standards and promote healthy lifestyle habits. Teaching fundamental movement skills, such as running, jumping, throwing, catching, and kicking, using a variety of instructional methods and equipment. Introducing students to a range of individual and team sports, games, and recreational activities, adapting instruction to accommodate diverse skill levels and abilities. Fostering a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement, participation, and enjoyment of physical activity. Incorporating principles of fitness, nutrition, and wellness education into physical education lessons to promote overall health and well-being. Assessing student progress through observation, skill demonstrations, and formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback to students and parents. Communicating regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, upcoming events, and opportunities for involvement in physical education activities. Maintaining accurate records of student attendance, participation, and achievement in physical education classes. Ensuring the safety and supervision of students during physical education activities, adhering to established school and district policies and procedures.

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
BA/BS or higher degree Hold or be eligible to hold a Washington State Teaching License, Emergency Substitute or Conditional Teaching license.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
BA/BS or higher degree with a major in one of the following areas: Elementary Education, Physical Education, Curriculum, English Language Arts, or Social Studies. Hold and maintain an appropriate license and endorsement(s) from the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission in the State of Washington. Knowledge of age-appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum framework, education code, appropriate instructional subjects, and State Instructional Standards.
