Job Summary The Department of Chemistry and Physics within the College of Science and Engineering invites applications for a full-time Lecturer. We seek a dynamic and student-centered educator who can contribute to undergraduate instruction while supporting the instructional mission of the department.
The department is home to the Center for Relativity and Cosmology, and preference will be given to candidates whose research complements and enhances the activities of the center.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Teach and coordinate general education science courses, including associated laboratory or activity components as needed.
Contribute to curriculum development and the continuous improvement of general education science course offerings.
Participate in student recruitment, academic advising, mentoring, institutional and/or community services, and outreach activities.
Serve on department, college, and university committees as assigned.
Attend university and college meetings, convocations, commencements, and other official functions.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Department Chair and Dean of the College of Science and Engineering. In Class Teaching Percentage Online Teaching Percentage Minimum Qualifications
A master's or doctoral degree in Physics or a closely related field in science or engineering.
Demonstrated ability and commitment to effective teaching, particularly at the introductory or general education level. Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience teaching general education or introductory science courses.
An active research background in relativity, gravitation, cosmology, astrophysics, or closely related areas that complements and enhances the Center for Relativity and Cosmology.
Will this position require driving (personal vehicle, university vehicle, utility vehicle, or golf cart) in order to perform the job duties? Driving may be necessary but is not a primary responsibility
