ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the HUSD Vision, Mission, and Goals.
  • Reporting to the Executive Director of Elementary Education, the ECDC Director supervises and coordinates the educational and administrative activities of the Centers.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to student development, well-being, including student-led learning processes, successful teacher mentoring, meaningful student community involvement, with an open, welcoming, and enriching campus environment.
  • Hires, supervises, and evaluates ECDC staff including teachers, aides, and support staff.
  • Provides mentoring, supervision, and evaluation of ECDC assistant director.
  • Provides leadership, coordination, and participation in the development of curriculum and the implementation of instructional strategies, evaluating programs and services on a regular basis to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on learning and child growth and development and HUSD governing board policy.
  • Maintains positive relationships with all stakeholders and communicates effectively.
  • Ensures that all licensing standards and requirements set by the State of Arizona as set forth in the rules for the Licensing of Child Care Facilities are met.
  • Works to increase and maintain enrollment at each ECD center and develops and maintains annual budget for Early Childhood Development Centers.
  • Supports and collaborates with the HUSD Special Education department in providing special education services to eligible students which includes Child Find.
  • Partners with Quality First in providing quality early learning through leading ongoing improvement efforts, following policies and participation requirement, and communicating information and goals with stakeholders.
  • Develops and provides staff development in curriculum areas and effective instructional strategies.
  • Prepares appropriate summary reports and disseminates information to appropriate decision-makers and other public entities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
The candidate will support and model high expectations of accountability in all responsibilities of this position.   • Master's degree in education from an accredited university or university.
  • State of Arizona Principal's certification.
  • Minimum of six years of successful teaching and/or education administration experience
  • Knowledge of current research in early childhood educational curriculum, instruction, assessment, and evaluation.
  • Experience in staff selection, assignment, orientation, and performance evaluation in accordance with state law and district policy.
  • Competent decision maker with excellent leadership skills.
  • Proficient communicator with excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with all stakeholders within a diverse community.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office.
  • Successful prior experience in assigned responsibility. Knowledgeable in student records software.
  • Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • No convictions for felonies or crimes against children.
