We are looking for a director to become or partner (% in the business) by adding sweat equity. We have a close‑knit community with a capacity of approximately 60 children. Our focus is creating a nurturing, hands‑on learning environment where children feel safe, supported, independent, and excited to learn every day. We are looking for a hands‑on Preschool Director who enjoys being part of the daily rhythm of the school
  • not just overseeing it. This role is a great fit for someone who loves early childhood education, understands classroom flow, and can support teachers, families, and operations in a practical, steady way.
  • What You'll Do School Operations
  • Oversee daily school operations, classroom flow, and overall center organization
  • Ensure licensing, safety, and compliance standards are consistently met (Title 22)
  • Maintain a warm, clean, safe, and welcoming school environment
  • Support smooth opening, closing, transitions, and daily routines Teacher & Classroom Support
  • Support teachers with classroom coverage, breaks, and daily needs
  • Help create a positive, respectful, and collaborative team culture
  • Provide practical coaching and guidance to classroom staff
  • Step in as needed to keep the school running smoothly Enrollment & Family Tours
  • Lead tours for prospective families
  • Support enrollment, retention, and parent communication
  • Create a welcoming experience for new and current families Parent Communication
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with families
  • Respond to parent questions and concerns professionally
  • Keep families informed, supported, and engaged
  • Partner with parents to support each child's growth
  • Required Qualifications (Must meet California Title 22 director requirements) Per California Community Care Licensing (Title 22, section 101216), you must meet one of the following prior to employment: Option 1
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 15 semester units (or equivalent quarter units) from an accredited college/university including:
  • 3 units in administration or staff relations
  • 12 units covering child/human growth & development, child/family/community, and program/curriculum
  • At least 4 years of teaching experience in a licensed child care center or comparable program Option 2
  • Associate of Arts degree with major/emphasis in Early Childhood Education or Child Development
  • 3 semester units in administration or staff relations
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience in a licensed child care center or comparable program Option 3
  • Bachelor's degree with major/emphasis in Early Childhood Education or Child Development
  • 3 semester units in administration or staff relations
  • At least 1 year of teaching experience in a licensed child care center or comparable program Option 4
  • A valid Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or Child Development Program Director Permit issued by the California Commission on
Teacher Credentialing Note:
All coursework must be from an accredited or approved college/university (U.S. Department of Education or California Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education). Strongly Preferred Experience
  • Previous preschool leadership experience (Director, Assistant Director, Lead Teacher, Program Coordinator, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills with staff and parents
  • Ability to lead with warmth, accountability, and professionalism
  • Comfortable stepping into classrooms and supporting the team as needed
