The ideal candidate is a strong leader with a commitment to excellence in early childhood education. Key Responsibilities Oversee the daily operations of the child care center. Ensure compliance with all District of Columbia Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) regulations and licensing requirements. Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate teaching and support staff. Maintain child, staff, and licensing records. Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional work environment. Develop and implement policies and procedures that support high-quality early childhood education. Manage enrollment, family communications, and community partnerships. Oversee center budgeting, tuition collection, and financial management. Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children and staff. Support curriculum implementation and continuous program improvement. Required Qualifications Applicants must meet District of Columbia Child Development Center Director qualifications, including: Bachelor's Degree preferred in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or a related field. Associate Degree or higher in a qualifying field with experience meeting DC Director requirements. Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or management experience in a licensed child care or early childhood education setting. Knowledge of DC licensing regulations, child development principles, and best practices in early childhood education. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Required Certifications & Clearances CPR and First Aid Certification. DC Child Protection Registry Clearance. FBI Criminal Background Check and Fingerprinting. Completion of all required OSSE Health and Safety Training. Current physical examination and TB screening, as required. Preferred Qualifications Experience as a Child Care Center Director or Assistant Director. Experience with licensing inspections and compliance management. Familiarity with child care management software such as Procare or ChildPlus. Experience with staff development and coaching. NAEYC accreditation experience is a plus.
