Role:
Enriching the Extended Day The After-School Director at Mi Escuela Montessori is responsible for the vision, safety, and execution of a high-quality afternoon program. This isn't just "childcare"—it is an extension of our Montessori mission. You will oversee the academic, social, and emotional growth of students during our extended day, ensuring the environment remains a structured, nurturing, and engaging space. As we move into our brand-new facility, this role has opportunities to expand. We are looking for a leader who can manage a team of assistants, build strong relationships with families, and ensure 100% compliance with DCF licensing standards.
Key Responsibilities Program Leadership:
Develop and implement an after-school curriculum that balances quiet academic support, Montessori-aligned enrichment, and active play.
Team Management:
Recruit, train, and supervise after-school staff and volunteers, ensuring high-quality service and maintaining proper ratios.
Compliance & Safety:
Maintain all relevant DCF licensing and regulatory requirements. Ensure staff training and student records are audit-ready at all times.
Operations & Budgeting:
Manage daily schedules, student attendance, and program resources effectively within the established budget.
Family Engagement:
Serve as the primary point of contact for families after 3:30 PM, fostering trust and providing clear communication regarding student progress or behavior.
Strategic Growth:
Prepare for the 2026-2027 school year by scaling program offerings to meet the needs of our expanding Pre-K-8 student body.
Minimum Qualifications Certification:
DCF 45-Hour Introductory Childcare Training (Required); DCF Director Credential (Strongly Preferred).
Experience:
At least 3 years of experience managing or coordinating youth programs, preferably in an educational setting.
Safety:
Current CPR and First Aid certification.
Leadership:
Proven ability to supervise a team, manage conflicts, and solve logistical problems (scheduling, staffing, etc.) in real-time.
Communication:
Professional verbal and written communication skills suitable for parent and administrative interactions.
Preferred Qualifications Education:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field.
Bilingualism:
Proficiency in Spanish to support our dual-language community.
