We believe children learn best through meaningful play, relationships, exploration, and connection to the natural world. Our approach blends leading early childhood philosophies, including play-based learning, child development principles, social-emotional learning, and nature-inspired education. Through intentional experiences, we nurture each child's curiosity, creativity, independence, and sense of belonging. Our nature-based curriculum follows seasonal and thematic studies inspired by the nature in our outdoor classroom where we spend 60-70% of the day . Children engage in hands-on, project-based learning experiences that integrate literacy, math, science, social studies, the arts, physical development, and Spanish language acquisition. By connecting learning to real experiences, children develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, confidence, and a deeper understanding of the world around them. Position Overview The Preschool Director serves as the educational and operational leader of Primavera's Candler Park campus. This role is ideal for a passionate early childhood leader who believes in the power of play, nature, relationships, and community to shape children's development. The Director is a visible, hands-on leader who inspires teachers, supports families, and ensures that Primavera's mission and educational philosophy are reflected throughout the school environment. The ideal candidate is warm, collaborative, organized, and deeply committed to creating a nurturing, inclusive, and high-quality early childhood experience. This position is responsible for leading the teaching team along with a leadership team of program coordinators, supporting curriculum implementation, Conscious Discipline, Primavera's nature-based curriculum and garden, The Creative Curriculum, our anti-bias curriculum, individualized plans, community and cultural events, working with co-op parents, working with our Chef and cooking class, maintaining licensing and safety standards, strengthening family partnerships, and overseeing the daily operations of the school.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Business Administration, Art, or a related field (Master's degree preferred) Significant experience in early childhood education Experience managing, mentoring, or supervising educators Strong understanding of child development, play and nature-based learning, and social-emotional development Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills Ability to build strong relationships with children, families, teachers, and community partners Bilingual English/Spanish Proficiency with Google Workspace, Excel, and educational technology platforms
Preferred:
Leadership experience in a preschool, nature-based program, Montessori, Reggio, Waldorf, nature-based environment, or similar educational setting Experience with curriculum development, teacher coaching, and professional development Key Responsibilities Educational Leadership & Teacher Development Lead with empathy, collaboration, accountability, and professionalism Build and maintain a positive team culture aligned with Primavera's values Support teachers in creating meaningful, child-centered learning experiences Coach educators through classroom observations, feedback, and ongoing professional development Encourage teachers to use their knowledge, creativity, individual talents, and curiosity to inspire children's learning Ensure consistent implementation of Primavera's educational philosophy and curriculum Support ongoing Creative Curriculum, Conscious Discipline, and Primavera's nature curriculum planning, training, and reflective teaching practices Work full-time twelve months a year (•45 paid vacation days by school calendar) Family & Community Engagement Create strong, trusting partnerships with families Maintain clear and responsive communication with parents, teachers, and community partners Participate in Primavera events, celebrations, and family-focused activities Build relationships that strengthen the school community School Operations & Compliance Oversee daily campus operations and ensure a high-quality learning environment Maintain a safe, organized, welcoming, and well-functioning school environment Compensation & Benefits Compensation From $65,000+ Competitive salary: based on qualifications and experience.
