TITLE:
Director of Special Education/PreschoolLICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Kentucky Teaching Certificate Director of Special Education Administrative Certificate Must have extremely strong and effective public relation skills, communication skills, successful experience with the implementation and interpretation of IDEA and state regulationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Master's Degree plus thirty (30) hours (Rank 1) Minimum of ten (10) years of experience; five (5) years of successful teaching experience and five (5) years of successful administrative experience and/or leadership (preferred)Reports To:

Staff who directly report to the Director (including but not limited to EC Instructors, Childcare Staff, Preschool Staff, Community Work Transition , Federal Programs Assistant, etc. )Job Functions:
To lead, facilitate, coordinate and monitor the implementation, operation and evaluation of Special Education Programs, Preschool Programs, School Age Child Care, Community Work Transition Program, Section 504 and ADA related matters to ensure a soundly based systemic approach to improving education so that all children learn.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Development of an organization and staffing plan to assure attainment of objectives; make or recommend changes as appropriate. Assist principals, councils, and staff with assessing school needs and services, instructional programs and strategies, and implementing an effective curriculum and method for improving instruction and ensure that all students learn to their highest potential. Collaborate with district staff and others to develop, implement, and/or obtain and provide needed resources, services, and materials for students. Respond in a timely manner to parent and community concerns about the special education program and related issues upon request and as needed; facilitate group meeting s as needed. Work on the development implementation and evaluation of the district consolidated plan, and other school district projects and committees. Develop, implement, and monitor budgets related to special education. Facilitate requests to the District for complaints, due process, hearings, and mediations. Prepare and submit federal and state reports. Supervise and evaluate assigned staff. Facilitate and coordinate the implementation and evaluation of special education programs; prepare staff development plans indicated by evaluation. Attend and actively participate in the following meetings: Superintendent's Advisory Council (SAC), Superintendent Cabinet, Instructional and Non-Instructional Directors, school councils, PTA, Board of Education, and others as needed. Work on the development implementation and evaluation of the district consolidated plan, and other school district projects and committees. Maintain regular attendance. Coordinator, Section 504 Compliance OfficerJOB FUNCTION
Provide leadership and coordinates the district's Section 504 program to ensure compliancePERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitors all active Section 504's in the district to ensure compliance and meet district obligations Facilitates training of all school administrators annually with Section 504 updates and serves as support to schools when needed Rewrites/updates the district Section 504 guide and provides updates to all administrative levels Serves as a resource for Section 504 Chairpersons and other staff members Provides updates to Section 504 materials to appropriate administrators for inclusion in district procedure publications Monitors national trends to ensure correct and up to date Section 504 implementation Answers inquiries and prepares chronologies for the Office of Civil Rights on behalf of the district Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor Maintain regular attendance Develop and maintain a positive rapport with families and staffPHYSICAL DEMANDS

COORDINATOR, SECTION 504KNOWLEDGE OF:
Principles and procedures associated with specific program. Knowledgeable or able to locate information from local, state and federal departments. District department-school site relations. Encourage involvement in the educational process. Preference to individuals with experience in writing and obtaining grants. Preference to individuals who understand and have specific experience with these types of programs.ABILITY TO
Communicate with others and build positive, trusting and effective interpersonal relationships. Make recommendations and decisions and be responsible for those decisions. Communicate effectively both orally and writing.Terms of Service:
