Integrated Arts Preschool Director Description:
Suzuki School of Newton is searching for a Preschool Director as part of its senior management team for its integrated arts, full-day Preschool in Newton. This is a full time, 12-month position. The Preschool Director will be in charge of 3 classrooms, currently licensed for 40 students but with an application in place for expansion and a robust summer program including 8-weeks of themed weekly Adventures Camp. In the past, we have held a 5-day puppet camp and a two-week theatre camp for pre-K through 2nd graders, all in conjunction with ourmunity music school offering Suzuki music instruction on 9 different instruments. This position is ideal for a creative and intelligent individual who will be overseeing a team of experienced early childhood educators and overseeing their classroom design. The Preschool Director is in charge of enrollment, marketing, fundraising, licensing,munity building, and a vision for integrating Suzuki education and a STEAM curriculum. A large number of resources for arts and music education are readily available as well as large classrooms, enthusiastic parents, and resources to inspire a creative environment for early childhood learning. Flexible start date, but would like to have a new Director in place by late August to prepare for the new school year.
Qualifications:
Bachelors or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education, DEEC Director 2 certification. Thorough knowledge and understanding of early childhood growth, development and education; knowledge of Suzuki philosophy, Multiple Intelligences theory and techniques of the fine arts as developmentally appropriate for young children; knowledge of assessment tools and being a good team leader. Must have an entrepreneurial spirit as a preschool director to build our enrollment post-pandemic. Experience in visual art or the performing arts a plus. Must love children, be flexible andanized, be an excellentmunicator and listener, and have a vision for children in a creative learning environment; current first aid & CPR certification. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Oversee the curriculum and operations of the Preschool including integrating the Suzuki Approach to learning and maintaining appropriate enrollment ratios
Maintain licensing, inspections and NAEYC accreditation of the Suzuki Preschool in conjunction with Preschool teachers
Oversee Preschool Budget including enrollment ie and expenses with Executive Director
Business/Marketing management of the Preschool in conjunction with administrative team • Fundraising and Development in conjunction with the Executive Director Oversee hiring and disciplinary matters of preschool staff.
Oversee Preschool Teachers on all matters including classroom design and management of classroom
Oversee the quality and appropriateness of classroom curricula as designed by Lead Preschool Teachers
Research and implement elements of Suzuki teaching in the classroom
Hold monthly staff meetings, establish and implement student assessment tools
Participate actively in Parentmunications, e-newsletter, parent conferences
Be an active team leader, oversee Teachers maintain PDUs, current first aid & CPR certification
Oversee facilities management (safety and maintenance, transition with music teachers, security, lock-up)
Contribute to web-based blog • Build the Vision of the Preschool as we embark on our strategic plan for the next phase of the school.
