Our mission is to enhance the lives of underserved infants and children and their families by providing quality educational and therapeutic programs and services. With the capacity to serve over 400 children from infants to age 13, we offer School Age, Preschool, and Family Child Care (FCC) programs. Working with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Department of Children and Families (DCF) to deliver subsidized and supportive care, we operate year-round, offering a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where children thrive. Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Preschool Coordinator to lead our preschool program. The Preschool Coordinator is responsible for hiring staff, supporting teaching staff, program curriculum, ensuring high-quality learning environments, maintaining compliance with EEC and NAEYC standards, and fostering strong relationships with children, families, and community partners. Key Responsibilities Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision, coaching, mentoring, and evaluation of preschool staff to promote professional growth and high-quality teaching practices. Conduct classroom observations, provide feedback, and prepare annual performance evaluations for all preschool staff and the agency cook. Hire, orient, supervise, and support preschool staff, volunteers, and the cook. Plan, facilitate, and maintain records of staff meetings, trainings, professional development activities, attendance, and evaluations. Support staff in addressing challenging behaviors through positive guidance strategies and Pyramid Model practices. Foster positive relationships with children, families, and staff. Maintain written and verbal communication with parents and guardians, participate in meetings and case conferences as needed, and promote family engagement in children's learning experiences. Work collaboratively with DCF, Worcester Public Schools, Early Intervention, consulting professionals, and other community agencies to support children and families. Develop special education plans when appropriate and refer children for evaluations, therapies, and other services as needed. Coordinate child assessments, developmental screenings, individual child records, documentation, and program records. Assist the Enrollment Coordinator with the intake and enrollment process for children entering the program. Ensure compliance with Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) regulations, NAEYC accreditation standards, Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) requirements, and agency policies. Supervise the cook and substitute cook to ensure the food program meets CACFP requirements. Coordinate daily program operations, including staff scheduling, and maintain all required records and documentation, including attendance records, incident and accident reports, suspected abuse documentation, therapy schedules, therapy activity reports, and other required program records. Develop the annual program budget in collaboration with agency administration and maintain fiscal responsibility for the preschool program throughout the fiscal year. Order, maintain, and track inventory for all program equipment and supplies. Work collaboratively with agency leadership to support program goals, strategic initiatives, and continuous quality improvement efforts. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, or a related field. Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) Director I or Director II certification. Minimum of three years of teaching experience in an early childhood setting. Minimum of two years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Strong knowledge of child development, curriculum, family engagement, and EEC regulations. Ability to speak Spanish preferred. Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Experience with NAEYC accreditation. Knowledge of Pyramid Model practices and social-emotional development. Experience working with diverse children and families. Additional Requirements Mandatory physical every 2 years as required by EEC. Evidence of MMR vaccination or immunity, required by EEC. Ability to navigate stairways and lift a minimum of 25 pounds. Ability to successfully pass EEC-mandated fingerprint-based background records check. First Aid and CPR certificates. Reporting Structure Reports to the Director of Education Directly supervises the Assistant Preschool Coordinator, all classroom teaching staff, and the cook. Currently, we have four preschool classrooms with 11 classroom staff and one cook. We are licensed for 64 preschool children.
