This position supervises Lead Teachers and the Child and Family Advocate, reporting to the department leadership to ensure high‑quality early childhood education in line with licensing and funding requirements. La Escuelita is a small preschool serving children ages 4-5. The Site Director leads operations and fosters an enriching, organized, and inclusive environment that supports both children and staff. Responsibilities Lead and manage all compliance and reporting requirements for local, state, federal, and private preschool funding sources to ensure program integrity and continued support. Monitor implementation of curriculum frameworks (Creative Curriculum and HighScope); review lesson plans and provide feedback to support quality instruction. Supervise and mentor Lead Teachers and the Child and Family Advocate, promoting a collaborative, trauma-informed, and communicative team culture. Support staff professional development by attending required GSRP and licensing trainings and ensuring all staff meet ongoing training requirements. Foster a positive work environment that supports staff wellness, open communication, problem-solving, and mutual accountability. Delegate tasks appropriately while maintaining oversight of program quality, daily operations, and staff performance. Ensure the classrooms and facility are safe, clean, organized, and fully compliant with licensing and health regulations. Participate in the development and coordination of school-wide family engagement strategies and special events, such as holiday celebrations, Mother's Day, and preschool graduation. Build and maintain strong communication with families and community partners; serve as a liaison between the school and external stakeholders. Coordinate with the Vice President of Programming to align preschool goals with broader departmental and organizational objectives. Assist Lead Teachers with administrative duties as needed, such as ordering supplies, maintaining student files, and submitting reports. Welcome and orient new families, visitors, and community members to the preschool site. Maintain accurate documentation related to licensing, staff credentials, and site operations. Participate in team meetings, interdisciplinary planning, and department-wide initiatives. Model culturally responsive practices and promote positive behavior guidance aligned with the center's values. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Meets one of the educational pathways outlined in Table 1 of Michigan Child Care Licensing Rule R 400.8113, such as:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field
- Associate's degree in a related field with required credit hours and experience
- Valid Child Development Associate (CDA) credential with applicable experience and coursework
- 60 semester hours with a minimum of 12 semester hours in child-related coursework and required experience At least 21 years of age with a high school diploma or GED At least 2 semester hours (or 3 CEUs) in childcare administration or an approved administrative credential Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching in a preschool setting and supervising staff Familiarity with Creative Curriculum, HighScope, and GSRP standards Experience in childcare administration and knowledge of state licensing regulations Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), ChildPlus, and cloud-based systems Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills Bilingual in Spanish and English Ability to work effectively in both classroom and administrative environments Cultural competence and commitment to equity, inclusion, and serving diverse communities Alignment with the mission and values of the Hispanic Center Collaborative, team-oriented approach and a passion for fostering children's growth Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
