JOB DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Center Director is responsible, along with the Center Director, for the effective daily operations and high-quality programming at Verner in accordance with all Verner policies and procedures and adherence with funding and licensing regulations. The Assistant Center Director supervises the classroom teaching professionals and other direct support staff for the center. The Assistant Director partners with various aspects of Verner's operations in support of classrooms, children, and family engagement. This position serves on the Verner Leadership Team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure compliance with all applicable licensing, Early Head Start (EHS), NC Pre-K, Child Subsidy, CACFP, and organizational requirements by collaborating with licensing consultants, regulatory agencies, and monitoring bodies. Complete and maintain required health, safety, playground, compliance, and program reports, including monthly reporting and documentation. Maintain effective and timely communication with families regarding program activities, concerns, and updates. Support family engagement initiatives, including coordinating home visits, promoting parent participation, and fostering positive family-center relationships. Assist in planning, coordinating, and participating in center events and activities. Supervise, support, and evaluate center staff through reflective supervision, observations, feedback, and performance evaluations. Participate in staff recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and professional development. Coordinate staff communications, meetings, classroom coverage, and scheduling to ensure compliance with staffing ratios and program requirements. Maintain documentation of supervision, observation, and evaluation activities and serve as Acting Center Director when assigned. Help ensure a safe, clean, and well-maintained learning environment, including indoor and outdoor spaces. Coordinate and document required safety procedures, drills, emergency responses, incident management, and family concerns in accordance with organizational policies.
QUALIFICATIONS A
Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Birth to Kindergarten Education or a four year degree in a related field that includes 6 classes focusing education/development. Strong written and verbal communication skills. At least 1 year of management experience and 5 years of education experience. Ability to complete Admin Level 3 within 1 year. Ability to lift 30lbs or more Bilingual is a plus
