Summer Day Camp Director

Job Summary We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Summer Day Camp Director to lead our seasonal day camp program. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all aspects of camp operations, ensuring a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for children and staff alike. Your leadership will inspire a vibrant community where children can explore, learn, and grow through a variety of activities, including sports, arts, theater, and outdoor adventures. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a passion for working with children, and the ability to foster a positive camp atmosphere that promotes childhood development and fun. Duties Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily camp activities to ensure they are safe, inclusive, and engaging for children of diverse backgrounds and abilities. Lead and support camp staff by providing training on classroom management, behavior management, child safety protocols, and emergency procedures such as first aid. Maintain a safe environment by enforcing health and safety standards in accordance with licensing regulations and best practices in childcare. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding camper progress, behavior concerns, and program updates. Manage administrative tasks including enrollment records, activity schedules, staff rosters, and incident reports. Foster a positive team culture through motivating staff, encouraging teamwork, and promoting professional development in areas like early childhood education and special education. Coordinate with community partners or volunteers for special events or themed activities that enhance the camp experience. Qualifications Proven experience in childcare settings such as daycare, preschool teaching, or summer camp leadership roles. Strong classroom management skills combined with knowledge of childhood development principles. Certifications in first aid and CPR are required; additional certifications in special education or Christian counseling are a plus. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children of various ages and abilities through tutoring, babysitting or teaching roles. Knowledge of behavior management techniques to promote positive conduct among campers. Experience organizing sports coaching sessions or theatrical activities is desirable. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with staff members, parents, and community partners effectively.
