Job Description

Overview Join our vibrant early childhood education team as an Assistant Daycare Director, where your leadership and passion for nurturing young minds will make a lasting impact. In this dynamic role, you will support the overall management of the daycare center, ensuring a safe, engaging, and educational environment for children. Your strategic vision and management skills will help foster a positive atmosphere that promotes growth, learning, and community involvement. Duties not limited to; Assist the Daycare Director in overseeing daily operations, ensuring compliance with licensing standards and safety regulations Support curriculum development to create enriching, age-appropriate activities that promote developmental milestones Supervise teaching staff and classroom activities, providing mentorship and performance feedback Contribute to strategic planning initiatives to enhance program quality and community outreach efforts Lead fundraising efforts and manage budgets to sustain program growth and resource allocation Represent the daycare at community events and engage with parents to foster strong relationships Support staff recruitment, training, and ongoing professional development to maintain a high-performing team Requirements Proven experience in classroom teaching and working directly with young children in an educational setting Strong background in curriculum development, classroom management, and early childhood education principles Demonstrated leadership skills with experience supervising staff or managing teams Knowledge of education administration, budgeting, and strategic planning processes Excellent communication skills for public speaking, parent engagement, and team collaboration Ability to coordinate fundraising activities and manage program resources effectively Prior experience in management or senior leadership roles within childcare or educational organizations is preferred Candidates must meet one of the following qualification pathways: Option 1 Bachelor's degree, including at least 12 credits in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field 1 year of full-time teaching experience in a child care center, family day care home, group family day care home, or other early childhood program 1 year of supervisory experience in a child care program or related field Option 2 New York State Children's Program Administrator Credential (CPAC) 1 year of full-time teaching experience in a child care center, family day care home, group family day care home, or other early childhood program 1 year of supervisory experience in a child care program or related field Option 3 Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, plus a documented plan of study leading to a Bachelor's degree or New York State Children's Program Administrator Credential (CPAC) 2 years of full-time teaching experience in a child care center, family day care home, group family day care home, or other early childhood program 2 years of supervisory experience in a child care program or related field Option 4 Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or other OCFS-recognized credential, plus a documented plan of study leading to a Bachelor's degree or New York State Children's Program Administrator Credential (CPAC) 2 years of full-time teaching experience in a child care center, family day care home, group family day care home, or other early childhood program 2 years of supervisory experience in a child care program or related field Preferred Qualifications Strong leadership and organizational skills Experience managing staff, enrollment, compliance, and family engagement Knowledge of New York City Article 47 and/or New York State OCFS child care regulations Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification Experience with infant, toddler, and preschool programs This role is ideal for motivated professionals eager to lead with energy and purpose.
